It is reported that the stainless steel price remains stable for 300 series products.
 
 2.0mm 304 CR coil is posted at CNY 26900 per tonne
 4.0mm to 6.0mm 304 HR pickled plate stands at 24700
 1.0mm 321 CR coil is at CNY 37400 per tonne.
 2.0mm 430 CR coil is offered at CNY 12300 per tonne;
 2.0mm 202 sheet is priced at CNY 20100 per tonne;
 2.0mm 201 sheet at CNY 14100 per tonne.

AK Steel has advised its customers that an USD 820 per ton surcharge will be added to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in July 2008.

July 2008 surcharges for the broad range of stainless steel products that AK Steel produces can be found on the company’s web site at www.aksteel.com. Due to continued increases in raw material costs, AK Steel will add a new surcharge for copper, effective with shipments on June 29th 2008.

AK Steel’s surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the May 2008 purchase cost used to determine the July 2008 surcharges.

It is reported that the recent quotation prices of 300 series stainless steel from TISCO to Korea were USD 3,000 FOB per tonne for hot rolled products and USD 4,050 per tonne for cold rolled products in May 2008, which dropped by USD 170 per tonne and USD 220 per tonne as compared April 2008.
 
 But price of 400 series were increased to USD 1,650 per tonne for hot rolled products and USD 1,800 per tonne for cold rolled products, saw an increase of USD 80 per tonne than in April 2008.
 
 Meanwhile, the price difference between HR products and CR products of 300 series continues to reduce in the recent two months. Formerly, the difference was USD 250 but it was reduced to USD 200 in April 2008 and recently dropped to USD 150. It is regarded that stainless steel market is not so clear, so the difference was reduced greatly.
